Over 800,000 visitors expected at Fulda's Christmas Market - Over 800,000 visitors expected at Fulda's Christmas Market
Fulda’s Christmas market is drawing huge crowds this year, with over 800,000 visitors expected by its closing date. The event, running until December 23, features nearly 100 stalls spread across themed sections. Among the highlights are a medieval village, a children’s Christmas land, and a towering Ferris wheel that has quickly become a favourite.
The market’s most popular spots include the medieval Christmas village, where fire shows and historical music entertain visitors. Traditional stalls around the Alte Universität and Universitätsplatz also attract large numbers, while the children’s area offers stage performances and visits from Santa. The market’s grand finale events, combining music and fire spectacles, have been particularly well-received.
A new 15-meter-tall Ferris wheel on University Square has proven a major draw. Meanwhile, Christmas carol singing on Cathedral Square pulled in nearly 20,000 people over two days during the third weekend of Advent. The busiest day so far was December 13, with more than 42,000 attendees. Organisers have already announced plans to expand the carol singing event in future years.
Fulda’s Christmas market will remain open until December 23, offering a mix of traditional and new attractions. The event’s success—with record visitor numbers—reflects its broad appeal. Organisers are now looking ahead to further enhancements for next year’s edition.
