Qantas unveils Economy Plus with extra legroom and priority perks for 2026

Qantas is set to introduce 'Qantas Economy Plus' in February 2026, offering passengers extra legroom and priority services on its A321XLRs, A220s, and 737s. The new service is part of the airline's ongoing efforts to enhance passenger comfort and convenience.

The new Economy Plus layout will feature seats with a width of 34 inches, four inches more than standard economy. The seats will be arranged in a 3-3 configuration from aircraft number four onwards on the A321XLR, with an Economy class featuring modern amenities such as ergonomic seat designs and individual IFE screens to enhance comfort.

Qantas is also considering positioning the lavatory mid-cabin on its A321XLRs to reduce lavatory queues. The first three A321XLRs will initially have a passenger-to-toilet ratio of 1:90 in economy and 1:20 in business. However, Qantas plans to add an extra toilet to these aircraft within a few years, matching the planned four toilets for future deliveries.

Qantas Group CEO Vanessa Hudson has announced that the carrier is on track for another successful half, with strong demand across all segments. To match this demand, Qantas is adjusting domestic capacity in the second half.

Qantas' new Economy Plus service, set to launch in February 2026, will offer passengers extra legroom and priority services on selected aircraft. The new layout, featuring wider seats and modern amenities, is part of Qantas' commitment to enhancing the passenger experience. The airline is also adjusting domestic capacity to meet strong demand.
