New Tourism Strategy for Rhineland-Palatinate - Rhineland-Palatinate's Tourism Sector Booms, New Strategy Targets Families and Youth

Rhineland-Palatinate's tourism sector is flourishing. In 2022, the region hosted approximately 8.7 million visitors, marking a 1.3% increase from the previous year. Overnight stays climbed by 0.4% to reach 22.4 million. To capitalize on this success, Economics Minister Daniela Schmitt (FDP) will unveil an updated tourism strategy on Monday at 10:30 AM in Mainz.

The new strategy aims to draw more families and younger travelers. While specifics are yet to be disclosed, it is expected to include measures such as developing family-friendly attractions, enhancing digital infrastructure, promoting sustainable tourism, and investing in marketing campaigns targeting these demographics. Representatives from tourism and hospitality associations have contributed to shaping the strategy. The tourism sector anticipates an increase in visitor and overnight stay numbers for the current year, driven by these initiatives.
