Rostock Christmas Market Draws Positive Balance - Rostock’s Christmas Market Shatters Records with 1.5 Million Visitors
Rostock’s Christmas market has broken visitor records this year. Nearly 1.5 million people attended the event between 24 November and 22 December. Organisers described the market as both successful and peaceful in its latest edition.
The Großmarkt Rostock GmbH managed the 2024 market, held at Neuer Markt. This year’s attendance marked a 12% increase over 2023. It also surpassed pre-pandemic figures from 2019 by 6%.
The event played a major role in the city’s tourism. Over 15% of the annual footfall in western Kröpeliner Straße came from the market alone. Nearly 9.7 million people visited that area throughout the year. Lord Mayor Eva-Maria Kröger highlighted the market’s broad appeal. She noted its popularity with both local residents and international tourists. Inga Knospe, managing director of Großmarkt Rostock GmbH, confirmed the event ran smoothly and without incident.
The 2024 Christmas market has set a new benchmark for Rostock. Its record attendance boosted visitor numbers well beyond previous years. The city now looks ahead to future editions with strong momentum.
