Russia and Saudi Arabia launch first direct flights between Moscow and Riyadh
Russia and Saudi Arabia have launched regular air services between the two countries for the first time. The new flights will connect Moscow and Riyadh, ending the reliance on layovers for travellers. The first scheduled route begins on August 1, with two airlines operating the service. Talks to establish direct flights took place in April during a meeting between the prosecutors general of both nations. Until now, passengers flying between Russia and Saudi Arabia had to book connecting flights, often stopping in Istanbul, Dubai, or Baku. The introduction of these scheduled flights removes the need for layovers on routes to Riyadh, Dammam, or Jeddah. The new service marks a key development in transport links between the two countries. Both airlines will continue operations until at least late October.
