Russia, China Boost Ties: Visa-Free Travel, Trade Expansion, and Multipolar World Order

Russia and China have strengthened their ties, with both nations committing to counter unilateral sanctions and promote a multipolar world order. The countries have also expanded free travel for their citizens and plan to boost trade and investment cooperation.

The latest development saw Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin visiting China on November 3–4, 2023. During his visit, Mishustin met with Chinese Premier Li Qiang, leading to the signing of cooperation agreements. This meeting was the 30th regular meeting between the two leaders.

China has also introduced a visa-free regime for Russian citizens, allowing stays of up to 30 days. Russian President Vladimir Putin has stated that Russia will reciprocate this decision. Additionally, both countries have committed to boosting mutual trade and expanding settlements in national currencies. To facilitate this, Russian and Chinese airlines will be encouraged to expand free flights between the two countries, with the expansion being market-driven and involving increased flight frequency and broader route networks.

The recent visit of Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin to China has further solidified the relationship between the two nations. With free travel, increased trade, and expanded flight networks, Russia and China continue to strengthen their economic and political ties, promoting a multipolar world order.
