Samina Zaman's 'Poetry of Time' Explores Women's Empowerment and Cultural Fusion

Samina Zaman's debut solo art exhibition, 'Poetry of Time', concludes today. The exhibition features 31 artworks, showcasing the artist's unique blend of cultural influences and exploration of universal themes.

Zaman, who obtained her MFA and BFA in Oriental Art from the University of Dhaka, draws inspiration from ancient memories and mythological tales to create art that unites the past, present, and imagination. Her works depict universal values such as justice, equality, and nature, rather than specific locations.

The exhibition explores women's emotions through pieces like 'Reflection of Women's Life-3', which portrays sadness, and 'Migration', which depicts movement and change. Zaman's major series, 'Anticipation', explores women's empowerment and defiance against tradition and patriarchy, using wings as a recurring symbol. In 'Parthona', she integrates Rabindranath Tagore's poem with Mughal architectural motifs and oriental designs.

Zaman's artworks include two paintings on palm leaves and watercolour-on-paper pieces. She blends calligraphy, terracotta patterns, and Mughal architectural elements in her art, showcasing diverse cultural influences.

The 'Poetry of Time' exhibition, featuring 31 artworks, concludes today. Zaman's art, which explores universal themes and cultural influences, has been well-received. Her unique blend of ancient and modern elements is expected to continue inspiring art enthusiasts.
