Schwalmtal's New Family Hub Offers All-in-One Support for Parents

A new family support centre has opened in Schwalmtal, offering a wide range of services under one roof. Called FamilienKompass Schwalmtal, the hub was created through a partnership between the local municipality and Bethanien Kinderdorf. Its goal is to simplify access to support while fostering integration and easing pressure on families.

The centre provides diverse programs, from parent-child meetups to play and gym groups. Families can also get help with daycare enrollment, systemic counselling, and advice on integration or asylum matters. While parents attend sessions, their children take part in supervised play activities nearby.

Services at FamilienKompass Schwalmtal adapt to real needs. For example, first-aid courses for children were introduced after requests from mothers. The flexible approach has made the centre's offerings highly sought after since its 2023 launch. Julia Bartkowski, director of Bethanien Kinderdorf, and Schwalmtal's mayor, Andreas Gisbertz, have both highlighted the project's focus on long-term family support. Their collaboration ensures the centre remains responsive to local demands.

FamilienKompass Schwalmtal brings together essential services in a single location. The initiative aims to strengthen community ties and provide practical help for parents. Demand for its programs continues to grow as more families seek support.
