Stuttgart Airport warns of S-Bahn closures during CMT tourism fair
Stuttgart Airport is preparing for higher passenger numbers during the CMT tourism fair from January 17 to 25. However, S-Bahn services to the airport will be suspended on the weekends of January 17–18 and January 24–25 because of construction work.
Travel alternatives have been recommended to avoid disruptions.
On the affected weekends, the S-Bahn lines S2 and S3 will not stop at Stuttgart Airport. Instead, passengers can use the U6 light rail or the S2X direct bus from Stuttgart-Vaihingen to reach the Stuttgart Airport Busterminal (SAB). Another option is the SXE direct bus from Böblingen, which also serves the SAB, with the fair entrance just a short walk away.
On weekdays, S-Bahn services will run as normal. The airport operator has also advised travellers to book parking spaces in advance online to secure availability during the busy period.
The CMT fair, one of the largest tourism events in the region, is expected to draw extra visitors, increasing demand for transport links to the airport.
With no S-Bahn access on the two weekends, passengers must rely on replacement buses or the U6 light rail. Advance parking bookings are encouraged to manage the surge in travellers. The airport aims to keep disruptions to a minimum during the fair.
