Swipe In App Simplifies Restaurant Discovery with Emoji Reviews
A new app called Swipe in is making it easier to discover restaurants across the DACH region and Italy. Developed by Dominik Ager and Nico Stark, the platform helps users find dining options tailored to their dietary preferences. Since its launch in November, it has quickly gained between 10,000 and 20,000 daily users. The idea for Swipe in took shape over a year and a half of development. Ager and Stark wanted to simplify restaurant searches by letting users filter results based on dietary needs. Once set in their profile, the app delivers personalised recommendations.
To keep things simple, reviews use emojis instead of text. This approach removes language barriers, making it accessible to more people. The app also relies on a Google algorithm to pull in restaurant listings and photos. Currently, *Swipe in* features 2,465 restaurants in Vienna alone, with plans to expand further. The city itself offers over 8,000 dining options, but the app focuses on curated, relevant choices. Despite its small team of just two people, the app already generates revenue.
With a growing user base and a straightforward design, Swipe in is changing how people explore restaurants. The app's emoji-based reviews and dietary filters make it stand out in a crowded market. Its expansion across the DACH region and Italy suggests it could become a go-to tool for diners.
