Thailand emerges as Russia's top budget summer escape in 2026
Thailand has become the most affordable summer holiday spot for Russian travellers in 2026. Hotel prices there have dropped by as much as 50%, making trips cheaper than even domestic options like Sochi. Demand for Asian destinations has also soared, with bookings up nearly 80% compared to last year. A nine-night stay in Phuket now starts at 117,100 rubles ($1,300), with departures from June 1. The package includes accommodation at the four-star Tuana Hotels The Natural Resort. For comparison, a similar trip to Sochi costs more this summer.
Vietnam remains the most popular Asian destination, accounting for nearly half of all summer bookings. A nine-night package in Nha Trang at the Bonjour Hotel (4★) begins at 201,000 rubles ($2,240), with departures on June 19. Nearby, Langkawi in Malaysia offers a similar stay at Adya Hotel Langkawi (4★) for 194,500 rubles ($2,170), though flights connect via Qatar.
Bali, Indonesia, is pricier, with a nine-night package at Kuta Central Park Hotel (4★) starting at 211,100 rubles ($2,350) and departing on June 2. Meanwhile, Hainan in China provides a mid-range option, with a nine-night stay at Sanyawan Yin Yun Seaview Holiday Hotel (4★) costing 165,100 rubles ($1,840) from June 1.
On average, a Thai holiday for two now costs 161,700 rubles ($1,800). This compares to 163,500 rubles ($1,820) for China, 197,800 rubles ($2,200) for Vietnam, and 216,700 rubles ($2,410) for Indonesia. Thailand’s sharp price cuts have made it the most budget-friendly summer destination for Russian tourists. With Vietnam leading in popularity and Indonesia offering premium stays, travellers have a wide range of options. The surge in bookings reflects growing interest in Asian getaways this year.
