The 2026 Flight Cheat Code: Cheapest US And International Routes
Travellers looking for budget-friendly trips in 2026 have plenty of options, according to a new report. The cheapest flights and destinations have been revealed, along with the best times to book and fly. The findings come from Dollar Flight Club’s latest analysis of airfares and travel trends.
The cheapest international flight next year will be to San Salvador, El Salvador, with an average fare of $198. For domestic trips, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, tops the list at just $95. Both prices reflect a trend of affordable travel to warm-weather spots.
Mexico leads the way for budget international travel, offering low-cost flights to Mérida, Monterrey, Oaxaca, and León/Guanajuato. Other affordable international destinations include Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Madrid, and Lisbon. Florida dominates the domestic rankings, with Orlando, Pensacola, Miami, and Sanford joining Fort Lauderdale as the most wallet-friendly options. Timing plays a key role in securing the best deals. March through May is the cheapest period for flights to Europe and U.S. national parks. Meanwhile, December to February offers the lowest fares for warm-weather getaways. Fall, from September to November, will also see some of the year’s cheapest flights. The report suggests booking 4–8 weeks in advance for the best prices. Travellers can save further by choosing midweek flights, red-eyes, or the first departures of the day. Flexibility with dates and nearby airports also helps cut costs. However, entry fees to popular U.S. national parks will rise for international visitors starting January 1, 2026.
The findings provide clear guidance for budget-conscious travellers in 2026. Cheap fares are available year-round, with specific seasons offering the best deals for different regions. By planning ahead and staying flexible, flyers can take advantage of the lowest prices on both domestic and international routes.
