Thousands Celebrate Love and Equality at Atlanta's 55th Pride

Thousands of people gathered in Atlanta this weekend to celebrate the city's 55th Pride event. The festivities, which concluded on Sunday with a parade around Piedmont Park, aimed to foster a sense of community and acceptance. Attendees, including Ken and Kendall Atkinson, expressed their support for love and equality, regardless of background or surroundings.

Ken Atkinson, who attended with her twin and a friend, stated that 'love is love' and people should not be judged based on who they love or marry. Kendall echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the importance of loving everyone regardless of their background or surroundings. The twins' message was echoed by many attendees, including Laylah Beroy, who appreciated the love and acceptance shown at the event. Initiatives like 'free mom hugs' were also highlighted as examples of the event's inclusive spirit.

Hundreds of companies and organizations joined in the parade, with thousands of watchers uniting in love, spirit, music, and dance. Deborah, another attendee, believes that everyone is equal and should be treated as such, regardless of their differences. Dale, who attended the parade with his mother, expressed that it's nice to be able to be oneself at the event. Marvin, another attendee, supports people's right to be and do what they want.

The 2025 Atlanta Pride events, organized by Atlanta Pride under the leadership of Executive Director Chris McCain, will be held on October 11-12, 2025, at Piedmont Park. The theme, 'Rooted in Resistance,' celebrates 55 years of LGBTQ+ pride. Information and updates can be found on the official Atlanta Pride website and local Atlanta event listings.
