Toronto Kids Fashion Week returns to Alberta with open auditions for 2026
Toronto Kids Fashion Week (TKFW) is bringing its inclusive runway events back to Alberta for the fifth time. The organisation will hold open auditions in Calgary and Edmonton, offering children aged 3 to 18 a chance to take part. Beyond fashion, the initiative focuses on social impact, representation, and fostering a sense of community among young participants.
Auditions for the 2026 season are set for March 1st in Calgary at the BMO Centre, followed by March 8th in Edmonton. These events mark TKFW’s continued commitment to Alberta, as highlighted by Artistic Director Katherine Garcia. She noted that the return underscores the organisation’s long-term dedication to both cities.
Unlike traditional fashion shows, TKFW prioritises participation over performance. The runway becomes a space where children of all abilities and backgrounds are celebrated. By normalising diversity in public cultural settings, the initiative encourages belonging, empathy, and early confidence through creative expression. The auditions are open to all, reinforcing TKFW’s mission to make fashion a platform for inclusion. Rather than focusing solely on aesthetics, the event emphasises representation as a core part of the experience. Children are valued not just for their appearance but for their individuality and contributions to the collective showcase.
The Calgary and Edmonton auditions will provide young participants with an opportunity to engage in a supportive, creative environment. Through its ongoing presence in Alberta, TKFW continues to build accessible spaces where children can express themselves freely. The initiative’s return reflects its growing influence in promoting diversity and social connection through fashion.
