Tourists visiting Gelendzhik are now prohibited from receiving payment for their vacation in the shade
In Gelendzhik, tourists have been voicing their concerns about being prohibited from resting under canopies without paying for sunbeds. However, it seems that no similar regulations have been adopted in Sochi or other Russian resorts, according to publicly available sources.
Alexei Bogodistov, the head of Gelendzhik, has been actively addressing these issues. He asserted that all coastal territories of Gelendzhik's resort should be accessible to everyone, including the central embankment and remote beaches. He also emphasised that vacation comfort should be consistent across all coastlines in Gelendzhik.
Bogodistov made these statements in response to beach conditions and practices. He announced that there have been 90 complaints about beach conditions since the start of the summer, and he considered such incidents unacceptable in Gelendzhik.
In an effort to maintain quality, unified standards have been implemented in Divnomorskoye, Kabardinsky, Pshadsky, and Arkhipo-Osipovsky districts in Gelendzhik.
It's worth noting that in other countries, paying to use umbrellas or deckchairs on popular beaches is common and regulated under different local rules. For example, beach services in Cyprus’s Finikoudes Beach charge tourists for umbrellas and deckchairs, while beach access and services in the US are regulated by state or county law but do not generally prohibit charging for shade or equipment rentals.
Despite the concerns in Gelendzhik, it appears that no bans like the one implemented in Gelendzhik have been extended to or exist in Sochi or other Russian resorts. The administration in these areas continues to take immediate action and maintains a continuous dialogue with beach users to adjust operations accordingly, ensuring that beach-goers have a comfortable and enjoyable experience.
Alexei Bogodistov, in light of beach conditions in Gelendzhik, has emphasized the importance of maintaining a comfortable lifestyle for tourists. He wants to ensure vacation comfort remains consistent across all coastlines in Gelendzhik, addressing issues such as prohibiting the use of canopies without payment for sunbeds. Meanwhile, travelers in Sochi and other Russian resorts seem to have no such restrictions, according to public information.
