Vietnam Speeds Up Tourism's Digital and Green Transformation
Vietnam's tourism sector is accelerating its digital and green transformation to support economic growth. The Prime Minister's recent directive, Dispatch No. 34/CD-TTg, emphasizes these changes as crucial for a modern, sustainable tourism industry.
Digital transition and green transformation are seen as 'golden keys' and 'strategic pillars' by Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chin. Many localities, including Hanoi, Ha Long Bay, Hue, Da Nang, and Hoi An, have already implemented these technologies, creating smart tourism destinations and eco-friendly products.
Experts suggest a comprehensive approach to tackle challenges and achieve meaningful progress. Vietnam's tourism development strategy to 2030 focuses on 'sustainable and inclusive tourism' based on green growth, promoting Industry 4.0 applications. The recent 12th General Assembly of the Tourism Promotion Organisation for Global Cities (TPO) and High-Level Tourism Forum highlighted the importance of digital and green transformation. Minister Nguyen Van Hung and Deputy Director Pham Van Thuy both emphasized the necessity of these strategies, with plans to develop a shared digital platform for businesses and tourists.
Vietnam's tourism sector is restructuring towards sustainability and innovation, driven by digital transformation and green transition. With widespread adoption of these technologies and strategic planning, Vietnam aims to create a modern, human-centred, and culturally distinctive tourism industry.
