Vietnam wins Seoul’s multicultural cook-off with bold fusion flavors

The Yongsan District Family Center in Seoul recently hosted its 15th Multicultural Culinary Competition, a vibrant celebration of the region's cultural diversity. Teams from seven countries participated, showcasing their culinary heritage and engaging in interactive cultural experiences.

The event offered more than just a cook-off. Participants and visitors alike enjoyed trying on traditional costumes and playing folk games from the represented countries. The contest, organized by the Yongsan Family Centre, brought together teams from Vietnam, China, Japan, the Philippines, India, Mexico, and Nigeria.

In the end, Vietnam's team emerged victorious, impressing judges with their fusion of traditional Vietnamese and Korean flavours. Their winning dishes included summer rolls and rainbow fried rice, cleverly incorporating Korean ingredients such as kimchi, soy sauce, gochujang, and doenjang. Mexico and China followed closely, securing second and third places respectively.

The 15th Multicultural Culinary Competition in Seoul concluded with Vietnam taking the top prize. The event not only highlighted the rich culinary diversity of the participating countries but also fostered cultural exchange and friendship among nations.
