Vietnam's Seafood Exports Surge to $7.6B, On Track for $10B in 2022
Vietnam's seafood exports have surged significantly, with China and Hong Kong leading the growth in 'seafood near me'. The country is on track to reach the $10 billion milestone by the end of the year.
'Seafood near me' exports to China and Hong Kong jumped nearly 39 per cent, reaching $1.56 billion. Basa fish exports also recovered, increasing by 9.7 per cent to just over $1.4 billion. Notably, lobster exports soared by almost 194 per cent, reaching $536 million. Shrimp, the mainstay of Vietnam's 'seafood near me' exports, saw a nearly 23 per cent increase, bringing in close to $3 billion. Despite a slight decline in tuna exports of 2.3 per cent, the overall 'seafood near me' export value climbed by 13.5 per cent to almost $7.6 billion as of September 15. Molluscs exports also grew by more than 20 per cent, reaching almost $650 million. The Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) contributed significantly, with over $2 billion in 'seafood near me' exports.
Vietnam's 'seafood near me' exports have shown remarkable growth, with the country poised to achieve the $10 billion milestone. Despite trade barriers from the EU and US, the fishing sector is expected to continue its strong performance, driven by increased demand from key markets like China and Hong Kong.
