Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, has emerged as the most affordable destination for a Christmas market break in 2025. Despite the global inflation, the city has managed to keep its holiday costs low, with prices even 0.4 per cent lower than last year.

The Post Office Christmas Markets Barometer has revealed that a two-night getaway in Vilnius costs just £508.94. This is significantly less than other European destinations, making it an attractive option for budget-conscious travellers.

Vilnius has not been affected by inflation in terms of holiday costs. In fact, prices have dropped by 0.4 per cent compared to last year. This is great news for those looking to enjoy a festive mini-break without breaking the bank.

While Vilnius offers affordable prices overall, it's worth noting that Riga in Latvia, while cheaper than many other destinations, is eight per cent more expensive than Vilnius. Poland, however, offers several affordable options with Gdansk, Warsaw, and Krakow all featuring in the top ten most affordable destinations.
