Wyndham’s Baymont Brand Expands Beyond the USA with First Asia-Pacific Hotel
Wyndham Hotels has opened its first Baymont by Wyndham property outside North America. The new Baymont Kunming Wuhua in Kunming, China, marks the brand’s expansion into the Asia-Pacific region. This move is part of the company’s wider growth strategy announced in late 2025.
Wyndham is one of the world’s largest hotel chains, operating over 9,100 properties across more than 95 countries. Its portfolio includes over 25 brands, ranging from budget-friendly stays to luxury accommodations. These brands are grouped into six tiers: Economy/Value, Midscale, Upscale, Lifestyle, Distinctive, and Vacation Rental/Timeshare.
Some of the well-known names under Wyndham include AmericInn, Days Inn, Club Wyndham, and Dolce Hotels and Resorts. The company also offers a loyalty programme called Wyndham Rewards, where members earn points for stays. These points can be used for free nights or combined with cash for bookings across all brands.
The recent launch of Baymont Kunming Wuhua follows Wyndham’s push to strengthen its presence in Asia. This property is the first Baymont hotel to open outside the USA, signalling the brand’s global ambitions.
The expansion into China reflects Wyndham’s focus on growing its footprint in key international markets. With flexible booking options and a wide range of brands, the company continues to cater to diverse traveller needs. The new Baymont property in Kunming adds another destination for Wyndham Rewards members to explore.
