A major restoration project will bring new life to the historic Yakovlev–Borchaninov Merchant House in Yekaterinburg. Built in the 1860s, the estate once served as a cultural hub for the Sverdlovsk State Children’s Philharmonic. Now, a 330-million-ruble effort will restore its former grandeur by 2029—just in time for the philharmonic’s 50th anniversary.

Work on the estate will begin in 2025 under the supervision of the Yekaterinburg Special Scientific Restoration and Design Workshop. The project will take roughly two years, with completion expected by 2028. Key improvements include restoring the original interiors on the first and second floors, replacing the roof, and upgrading utility systems.

The restored Yakovlev–Borchaninov Merchant House will reopen as a functional cultural space by 2029. Its updated facilities, including the music salon and rehearsal rooms, will support the philharmonic’s ongoing work. The project marks a significant investment in preserving Yekaterinburg’s architectural and musical culture.
