Altenstein Palace Park reopens with tours and family adventures this April

Altenstein Palace Park Reopens for Visitors on April 1

The 2024 season at Altenstein Palace Park begins on April 1, marking the reopening of the visitor center in the Hofmarschallamt's round building.

Until November 1, the center serves as a key hub for anyone looking to explore or rediscover the park. It will be open Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and on weekends and public holidays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Here, guests can get a first glimpse into the fascinating history of the palace and park while planning their visit to suit their interests.

Whether booking guided tours, discovering special offers, or simply seeking inspiration for a stroll, the on-site team is happy to assist. The center's shop also offers a variety of items to explore.

Families will find the visit especially rewarding: Children can embark on a mini-adventure through the park with the "Explorer Backpack," joining Bruno the dragon on a journey of discovery. The experience is enhanced by an audio guide and a child-friendly audio tour.

Guided tours of the palace park and the Altenstein Cave can be booked directly at the visitor center or in advance online at www.bad-liebenstein.de/fuehrungen.

This season brings a special highlight in honor of the Year of Duke Georg: Costumed guided tours for groups will bring history to life at regular intervals.

Visitors may encounter Adelheid, Princess of Saxe-Meiningen and later Queen Adelaide, as well as the legendary garden designers Fürst Pückler and Lenné, who will appear in the park for unique historical encounters.

Altenstein Palace itself remains closed for ongoing renovation work. Those interested in learning more can visit an exhibition space in the Hofmarschallamt's gateway, offering insights into the palace's history and the current restoration efforts.

Getting to the park is now easier than ever: Starting with the new season, bus line 41 will run multiple times a day through the palace grounds, with stops near the visitor center and the Altenstein Cave for convenient access.
