Balfour Miami Beach reopens as a historic yet affordable Wyndham gem
If you're planning your dream vacation to South Beach Miami and have some Wyndham Rewards points handy, listen up.
Balfour Miami Beach, a historic hotel that has been a fixture in the South Beach neighborhood for decades, has joined Wyndham's ultra-luxe Registry Collection Hotels portfolio.
Here's what you need to know, plus how to book a stay here.
New Luxury Points Hotel Opens on South Beach
Balfour Miami Beach, a Wyndham Registry Hotel, features 82 guest rooms and suites, some with bunk beds or separate living areas.
Amenities include an on-site Mediterranean restaurant, a swimming pool, a cafe, complimentary bicycles, pet-friendly accommodations, and complimentary beach chairs.
Initially opened as the Lord Balfour Hotel, the property has a storied history in Miami. Designed in 1940 by the Art Deco architect Anton Skislewicz, the hotel still features the terrazzo floors and brass elevator doors from that era.
If you aren't familiar, Registry Collection Hotels is a portfolio of independent properties known for "thoughtful design and a strong sense of place." You'll find Registry Collection hotels in destinations such as Panama, Greece, and the United Arab Emirates.
How To Book Balfour Miami Beach
Balfour Miami Beach, a Wyndham Registry Hotel, is now open for guests. You'll find rates as low as $185 per night.
But if you have a stash of Wyndham Rewards points, we recommend using them.
That's because, among the major hotel chains, Wyndham Rewards has one of the simplest award charts. Award nights are either 7,500, 15,000, or 30,000 points per night for all Wyndham hotels.
As a Registry Collection hotel, it's not unsurprising to see awards at 30,000 points nightly. That's still a pretty good deal for a luxury hotel located on South Beach.
It's fairly easy to earn Wyndham Rewards points. You can transfer Bilt points, Capital One miles, Chase Ultimate Rewards points, and Citi ThankYou Rewards to the program at a 1:1 ratio. Other ways to easily earn points include staying at Wyndham-branded hotels or earning welcome bonuses on Barclays' co-branded Wyndham Rewards credit cards.
Final Thoughts
Miami's South Beach doesn't have a reputation for being cheap. That's why we were pleased to see Balfour Miami Beach joining Wyndham Rewards, especially with its affordable cash rates and award pricing.
Plus, Wyndham is running a limited-time promotion that lets you earn bonus points on your stay here, giving you enough points for a night at one of the chain's lower-category properties.
