Kazakhstan's Sievers Apple Blossom Festival dazzles 7,000 with rare wild beauty
The Sievers Apple Blossom Festival drew over 7,000 visitors to Jetisu Region on May 2, 2026. Held in Zhosar-Alatau State National Natural Park, near Topolevka, the event showcased the rare beauty of the wild Sievers apple in full bloom. This year’s edition was officially listed in Kazakhstan’s national events calendar, highlighting its growing importance.
The festival celebrated a unique natural spectacle: the blooming of the Sievers apple, a species native to the region. Jetisu is home to 48% of the world’s wild Sievers apple trees, making the event a rare opportunity for visitors.
The programme featured a mix of cultural and outdoor activities. Guests explored the apple groves on guided tours, while artists from Kazakhstan, Russia, China, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Turkey took part in an international en plein air competition. Traditional sports, artisan workshops, and a concert headlined by Kazakh performers Bayansulu and Uandyq Rakhim rounded out the schedule.
Over 50 bloggers and influencers attended to promote Jetisu’s tourism potential. The festival aimed to boost both domestic and international interest in the region, positioning it as a must-visit destination for nature and culture.
The event successfully combined natural beauty, art, and cultural exchange. With its inclusion in the national calendar, the festival is set to play a larger role in Kazakhstan’s tourism strategy. Organisers hope the growing attention will further establish Jetisu as a key travel spot.
