74% of Krasnodar residents travel to other cities for festivals, concerts, and major events at least occasionally

Event tourism is growing in popularity: according to a survey by Avito Travel, 74% of Krasnodar residents occasionally travel to other cities for festivals, concerts, and large-scale events. Among them, 44% attend music concerts and festivals, while 35% visit city celebrations and local festivals. When it comes to accommodation, 52% opt for hotels, and 30% choose short-term rentals, such as apartments or guesthouses.

Young people aged 18–24 and 25–34 are the most active in event tourism: 73% and 70%, respectively, travel for events, with one in five doing so regularly. Older age groups show less interest in this type of travel.

The primary reasons for such trips are music festivals and concerts (43%) and city festivals and local celebrations (40%). Sports events and business gatherings—such as exhibitions, forums, and conferences—also attract 19% of respondents.

The rise in event tourism is linked to the expanding accommodation market. Nearly half (44%) of travelers attending out-of-town events prefer private lodging, including short-term apartments, guesthouses, or homes. This option is particularly popular among Gen Z and millennials: 37–38% of travelers aged 18–34 choose it. Glamping is also gaining traction in this age group, with 6% in each subgroup opting for it—higher than in other demographics. Meanwhile, those aged 45–54 and 55–64 more often prefer hotels or guesthouses (49% and 52%, respectively), while only 5% of all respondents choose glamping or camping.

Key factors in selecting accommodation include price (58%), comfort (52%), and proximity to the event (46%). Young adults aged 18–24 pay more attention to reviews and ratings (40%) and the option to stay in large groups (17%). These criteria also matter to those aged 25–34, with 32% considering reviews and 11% prioritizing group-friendly lodging.
