Logan Airport's new remote terminal opens June 1 to cut congestion
Massport is set to open a new remote terminal for Logan International Airport on June 1, 2023. The facility aims to ease congestion at the main airport by offering an alternative check-in and security process for travellers. The remote terminal will be located at 19 Flutie Pass on Route 9 in Framingham, Massachusetts. Passengers can check themselves and their luggage there before boarding a bus to their departure gate. Security remains a priority, with a full TSA screening checkpoint available on-site, matching the standards of the main airport.
Buses will operate hourly from 4 a.m. to 1 p.m. when the service launches, with each vehicle carrying up to 55 passengers. The program follows similar initiatives in Philadelphia and Chicago, designed to streamline airport procedures. Parking at the Framingham terminal will cost $7 per day, while eligible passengers can buy $9 tickets for the bus service—children travel free with an adult. The goal is to create a more efficient experience for travellers while reducing overcrowding at Logan International. Officials have emphasised that security measures will remain strict throughout the entire journey, from the remote terminal to the aircraft gate.
The new remote terminal offers a cost-effective and convenient option for air travellers. With hourly bus connections and full security checks, it provides an alternative to the main airport’s busy environment. The service is expected to improve overall passenger flow at Logan International.
