Win a Free Eco-Journey to Kamchatka This July in Russia's Bold Initiative
The Other Matters development program, part of the presidential platform Russia—Land of Opportunity, has announced the launch of applications for its environmental initiative "The World in Your Hands." Residents of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast now have the chance to embark on a free eco-journey to Kamchatka this July.
Applications will be accepted until June 15. The special project is organized in support of the national initiative "Ecological Well-Being."
"Today's young people don't just want to study ecology as a science—they want to be part of its key trends in action. The World in Your Hands is exactly that kind of space: a place to create, see the results of your efforts, and connect with like-minded people who share your values. Kamchatka is a place unlike any other. When you stand before its volcanoes or untouched forests, you truly grasp the urgency of environmental initiatives. Our participants always return with fresh experiences and new ideas for launching their own eco-projects," said Daria Mikaelyan, head of digital projects at the Russia—Land of Opportunity presidential platform.
Now in its fourth year, the initiative remains one of the most sought-after activities under the Other Matters program.
This July, the winners will travel to Kamchatka—one of Russia's most pristine natural regions and a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site. Over seven days, participants will tour recycling facilities, attend lectures by mentor-ecologists, develop their own eco-projects, explore protected areas and national parks, and immerse themselves in a cultural program showcasing Kamchatka's nature, traditions, and history.
To apply, candidates must submit a motivational essay detailing their personal eco-habits and complete tests on Russia's protected zones, environmental safety, and waste recycling. A judging panel will select ten winners aged 18 to 35, with the final list announced on the project's website by June 30. Those who fulfill all requirements but do not make the top ten will still have a chance to win: over 100 prize boxes filled with eco-friendly merchandise and content-creation gear for environmental advocacy will be raffled off.
Applications are accepted via the project's official website.
Submissions will be evaluated by experts in ecology and sustainable development from Russia's leading organizations.
