Empire State Building Crowned America's Top Attraction for 2026

The Empire State Building has once again been named the top attraction in the U.S. by TripAdvisor’s 2026 Travelers’ Choice Awards. Standing at 1,454 feet with 103 floors, it remains one of New York City’s most famous landmarks. Every year, millions of visitors flock to the building for its views, history, and unique events like the annual stair-climbing race. Construction of the Empire State Building began in 1931 and finished just a year later. Its Art Deco design and towering height made it the world’s tallest building from 1932 until the early 1970s. Today, it still draws over 4 million visitors annually, offering two observation decks, a museum, and seven restaurants.

One of its most challenging events is the Empire State Building Run-Up. Participants race up 1,576 stairs—equivalent to 86 flights—to reach the top. The gruelling climb tests endurance but has become a beloved tradition for athletes and enthusiasts alike.

The building’s mix of history, architecture, and activities keeps it at the forefront of global tourism. Its recent TripAdvisor award confirms its status as a must-see destination. With races, dining, and breathtaking views, the Empire State Building continues to captivate visitors from around the world.
