Rwanda's New AI-Ready Data Centre Marks a Digital Leap Forward
Rwanda has taken a major step in boosting its digital future with a new high-tech data centre. Broadband Systems Corporation and Oman Data Park signed a strategic agreement to build an AI-ready facility in the country. The project aligns with Rwanda’s push for stronger digital infrastructure and advanced technology capabilities. The partnership was formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at developing a Tier III Data Centre. This facility will meet strict standards for reliability, redundancy, and operational resilience. Its design ensures it can handle data-intensive tasks, cloud services, and emerging AI technologies.
The signing ceremony included key officials from Rwanda’s Ministry of ICT & Innovation. Ministers Paula Musoni and Yves Iradukunda attended, alongside Antoine Sebera, CEO of the Rwanda Information Society Authority (RISA). Their presence highlighted the government’s support for the initiative. Beyond infrastructure, the project supports Rwanda’s wider digital transformation goals. The partners plan to enhance data resilience, foster innovation, and speed up the adoption of smarter digital systems across the country. The data centre will serve as a foundation for future technological growth.
The new Tier III facility will position Rwanda as a hub for secure, AI-driven data services. Its completion will reinforce the nation’s ability to handle advanced digital demands. The collaboration between Broadband Systems Corporation and Oman Data Park marks a key milestone in Rwanda’s technology roadmap.
