Geneva lures tourists with 100CHF gift cards for longer stays

Geneva Tourism has introduced a new scheme to attract visitors to the region. Eligible travellers can now receive a 100CHF gift card when booking at least two nights in a participating hotel or guesthouse. The card offers discounts at various local businesses. The Geneva Gift Card provides 100CHF (around $USD 111) to spend across the city. It can be used at hotels, restaurants, cafes, bars, and activities such as the Local Flavours Chocolate Tour. However, it is only accepted at establishments registered in the 'Geneva Gift Card' programme.

The card is personal and cannot be transferred to another person. It must be used in full, as no change or cash refunds are given. Any remaining balance at the end of the validity period will be lost.

Visitors qualify for the card by booking a minimum two-night stay in the Canton of Geneva. Once received, the card remains valid until 31 December 2020. The initiative aims to boost tourism by encouraging longer stays and spending at local businesses. The card cannot be exchanged for cash, and its use is restricted to participating venues. All funds must be spent before the end of the year.
