Las Vegas slashes prices with all-inclusive deals to win back tourists
Las Vegas is rolling out cut-price, all-inclusive deals to lure back visitors. The city saw a drop in tourist numbers last year, with fewer people flying in and hotel stays declining. Resorts and casinos are now slashing prices to attract cost-conscious travellers.
Visitor numbers fell to around 38.5 million in 2022, down by 7.5 percent from the previous year. Airport traffic also dropped by about 6 percent in December 2022 compared to the same month in 2021. Hotel occupancy, airline bookings, and retail sales have all taken a hit.
To counter the downturn, several major resorts are offering budget-friendly packages. MGM Resorts International now provides all-inclusive deals from $330 for two people at Luxor and Excalibur. Caesars Entertainment is testing similar bundles on the Strip, starting at $200 a night. The Plaza Hotel & Casino in downtown Las Vegas is advertising all-inclusive stays for $104 per person, per night. Other promotions include Circa Resort & Casino’s two-night ‘all-in’ package for $400. This deal comes with a $100 dining credit and a daybed at the popular Stadium Swim pool complex. Meanwhile, the MGM Grand Buffet will permanently close its doors on May 31, 2023. Despite the slowdown, Las Vegas has seen new attractions open. The Sphere, an immersive entertainment venue, launched in September 2023 and has since hosted events for multiple artists.
The wave of discounted packages aims to revive tourism in a city facing lower visitor numbers. With cheaper stays and added perks, hotels and casinos are hoping to fill rooms and boost spending. The success of these deals could shape Las Vegas’s recovery in the months ahead.
