Spirit Airlines' Free Spirit program rewards travelers with low-cost redemptions

Spirit Airlines, a Florida-based carrier, operates flights across the U.S. and to several international destinations. The airline’s loyalty scheme, Free Spirit, lets passengers earn points for flights and other purchases, which can be redeemed for travel from as little as 2,500 points. The Free Spirit program rewards travellers based on money spent with the airline and its partners. Points can be used to book flights to destinations like Punta Cana and Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic, Cartagena in Colombia, and Montego Bay in Jamaica. Redemption starts at just 2,500 points for certain routes.

Members can also join the Spirit Saver$ Club for $69.95 a year, gaining access to flight discounts and other perks. The airline does not run its own lounges, but Priority Pass access is available through select credit cards or via its online shopping portal. Spirit operates from two main hubs: Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) and Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW). The airline remains independent, with no airline alliances or partners. The Free Spirit program has two elite tiers: Silver and Gold. Silver members earn 8 points per dollar on fares and 16 on extras like baggage or seat selection. Gold members receive 10 points per dollar on fares and 20 on ancillary purchases. Status is earned through Free Spirit Status Qualifying Points (SQPs).

Spirit Airlines offers a straightforward loyalty scheme with low redemption thresholds and clear earning rates. The program’s benefits, including elite status perks and membership discounts, cater to frequent flyers. Passengers can use points for flights across the airline’s network in the Americas.
